Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI)  Is a type of circuit breaker that is intended to protect against effects of arcing faults. It acts to de-energize the circuit when an arc is in the process. Arc-faults are typically install in your electrical panel where they are readily accessible. New electrical code requires that all dwelling units such as, family rooms, dinning rooms, living rooms, etc.. Shall be protected by this type of breaker. This installation of breaker needs to be installed at the first circuit outlet on that particular run of outlets. The branch circuit needs to be continuous and the max length to the first outlet cannot be over 50 ft with 14 AWG or 70 ft with 12 AWG copper conductor.
